Dr Rakhee Makadia is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency; AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She is also a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology of the BPS.

Rakhee attained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in the UK from the University of Sheffield in 2011 and holds a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Aston University (attained in 2005). She has several years of experience working with adolescents and adults in the UK and Australia.

Rakhee is an intuitive and compassionate clinician, who is committed to working collaboratively with clients to form a shared understanding of their difficulties/challenges using evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Rakhee believes the therapeutic relationship with each client is important. Clients need to feel safe in their therapeutic environment in order to begin their journey of openness, curiosity and exploration. Within Rakhee’s approach to psychological therapy, she facilitate individuals to gain further insight into the science behind how our brains and minds work and how powerful and influential our experiences can be on our thinking patterns/styles which subsequently impact on our emotions and behaviour. It takes courage to start the therapeutic process, Rakhee is committed to guide individuals to meaningfully connect and make their desired changes/adaptations, to become wiser and manage distress more effectively in a self-supportive, soothing and nurturing way, to experience greater contentment and well-being.

Rakhee specializes in using Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). CFT focuses on building our inner capacity to respond more wisely to our inner emotions and conflicting pressures of life. Rakhee also uses and integrates Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and draw on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy principles.
