What is Yellow Fever?

Yellow Fever is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes, common in parts of Africa and South America. It can be life-threatening, but is preventable with a single vaccine.

Who Needs the Vaccine?

• 🌍 Travellers aged 9 months and older going to areas with Yellow Fever risk

• 🔬 Laboratory staff working with the Yellow Fever virus

• 🧳 Individuals needing proof of vaccination for entry into certain countries

Booster Doses Recommended For:

If your first dose was over 10 years ago, a booster may be needed if:

• You were pregnant during your first dose

• You had HIV at the time of your first dose

• You’re traveling to an area with a known outbreak

Important Notes:

• 💉 Yellow Fever vaccine is a live vaccine with about 90% effectiveness

• 🚫 Not routinely recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless advised by a doctor

• ✅ St Mary Medical Centre is an accredited Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre
